Fundatia Parteneri pentru Dezvoltare Locala (Partners Foundation for Local Development) [www.fpdl.ro] is a non-profit organization established in 1994 by a group of experts in public administration and community development, in order to use their experience, knowledge and skills acquired in national and international training programs, to support the Romanian society process of democratization.

The mission of the foundation is to enhance democratic processes of governance, civil society development, and the generation of a new change & conflict management culture, in Romania and the region, through capacity building programs.

Asociatia Pro Democratia (Pro Democracy Association) [www.apd.ro] is a non-governmental, non-profit and non-party affiliated organization established in 1990. It currently has 30 in-country branches in which over 1,000 citizens (members and volunteers) participate to strengthen democracy in Romania by encouraging civic participation. The main areas that the association focuses on are: better relationship between the electorate and its elected representatives, observing the correctness of the electoral process, civic education; citizens’ participation in the process of public policies drafting, the transparency of public institutions and their control by the civil society; and protecting human rights.
